Par for the Course
Par is the amount of strokes designated to be required for a particular golf hole. Most regulation golf courses are designed to include par three’s, par fours and par fives and the total strokes allowed for 18 holes is usually 72. These golf courses normally consist of four par threes, ten par fours and four par fives. There are also par sixes on some courses such as Farmstead, which is located in both North and South Carolina. The hole plays from approximately 760 yards from the championship tees. It may take more than a few golf balls to reach this green as it is guarded by water on the left hand side.
During one golf round I just missed an eagle 4 by two inches with a putt from the fringe of the green and played from the 716 yard tee location. I made the tap in birdie but the hole in one and double eagle still eludes me. There are also par 70 and 71 courses and they can consist of a combination of the above referenced par holes. Making a Par is an accomplishment on any golf hole. Strive for your pars and the birdies will follow. Happy Golfing to All!
