Thank you for your comment and I agree with all you wrote. I think this is Mickelson's year! Let's enjoy golf in the meantime as it is important to remember that as you so stated.

I agree, it was nice to see the Masters live up to the pre-tournamant hype and deliver some great golf. Phil Mickelson's win for me showed two important things; courage and enjoyment.

Mickelson''s courage was cystallised in his second shot at the 13th. From in the woods his bold shot landed a few feet from the pin. It was a shot and a moment worthy of a champion, and send a strong signal to Westwood that is he wanted to challenge, then Phil was up for the fight.

And just like when he won the Masters the first time Mickelson did so with a smile on his face. It is refreshing to see a professional who actually looks like he is enjoying his work. I'm sure that contributed positively to his mental state as the final few holes were played out.

For the rest of us golfers it is a clear example that at times we need to step-up and play at the shot that has risk but can offer great reward, particularly in matchplay where the consequences of making a mess are only the loss of one hole. Timidity, especially on the greens can cost us dearly.

And to play and enjoy ourselves is important. Oftentimes we make everything too serious. Most of us took up golf in the first place for pleasure, and it is important we don't forget that.

LaRue,

That is correct. They were a private club but were taken over by the same owners as Scotland Run, a semi-private golf course I play often as a good friend of mine is a member there. They are both challenging and well laid out golf venues but I think Ballamor may have the edge on the course design but not the clubhouse. I've dined at Scotland Run a number of times and the food and ambiance of the clubhouse will rival most private country clubs. For more valuable golf tips and info check out my other golf blog site www.guideforbeginninggolfers.com Thank you.

Ballamor Golf Club just changed to a daily fee club after nine years as an exclusive private golf club. I've seen the course, which has large greens and wide fairways, and encourge golfers to take advantage of this new opportunity to play the challenging course now that the gates are open to everyone.

MJ,
As noted in my post and I have to agree that The Monterey region offers some of most spectacular backdrop landscape and layout features for golf course design and location as anyhwere in the country or even the world. Only place I would like to check out that I would imagine may give Monterey a run for the money is Hawaii. I'll have to plan a trip to both and decide for myself. Thanks for the information and the attachments.

The Monterey Peninsula offers the most spectacular golfing I have ever experienced. I was pinching myself the whole time I was there just to make sure I was not dreaming. The Monterey region offers the best golf courses in the world! I just got back from the golf wonderland and must say this was the best golf vacation i have ever had! See the courses for yourself:
